Manhattan Portage presents Body&SOUL Live in Japan 2024

Since 1996, "Body&SOUL," held every Sunday afternoon at NYC's "VINYL" club, has been a pioneering party influencing and leading the global deep house/serious dance music scene. It features three iconic New York DJs―FRANCOIS K., DANNY KRIVIT, and JOE CLAUSSELL―each known for their unique talents and open-minded soundscapes. The event is characterized by its inclusivity, with performers and staff from various racial, sexual, age, and economic backgrounds, as well as a mixed audience that shares a deep love for music, creating a space brimming with friendship. Body&SOUL retains the beauty of past parties, allowing attendees to discover values of great importance.

When Body&SOUL made its debut in Japan, despite the challenges of hosting outside New York for the first time, the event was meticulously organized to reflect FRANCOIS K.'s requests, from venue selection to interior design and sound systems. This effort successfully recreated the ambiance of New York's Body&SOUL while introducing a party of new significance.

In Japan, starting in 2002, the event was held over two days at Roppongi's velfarre for five consecutive years, becoming a staple of the Golden Week holiday. It gradually gained popularity, attracting visitors not only from across Japan but also from other Asian countries. Following velfarre's closure in 2007, the event moved outdoors for the first time to a special venue in Odaiba, drawing over 4,000 attendees due to the synergy of the open-air setting and the essence of Body&SOUL. The event continued in the Odaiba area until 2011, with occasional irregular events at Ryogoku Kokugikan and ageHa@STUDIO COAST. From 2012, the stage moved to the Harumi Passenger Ship Terminal, offering panoramic views of Tokyo Bay and the city, attracting numerous music lovers. In 2013, the event expanded to two cities, Tokyo and Osaka, maintaining its tradition as a dance party while continually embracing new challenges.

Over 15 years since its debut in Japan, the event has grown to include a kids' area, reflecting its broader age demographic and its nature as a family-friendly open-air party. Today, Body&SOUL is a cherished gathering place where people of all ages celebrate their reunions with smiles, embodying the love for Body&SOUL.
